Loft Space Renovation

Mick and Sal popped into our offices at Westgate on Sea initially to discuss their kitchen and bathroom requirements, however their plans changed as they decided to start works from the top of the property and therefore decided to tackle their loft room first.

The main reason for the loft works was for the ceiling and ashlar walls to be insulated, as due to the age of the property the room was too cold in winter, and too hot in summer.

Once we had removed the existing lath and plaster ceiling and ashlar walls, it revealed the stunning timber beams and height of the room. We worked with Mick and Sal on how they wanted to showcase their new found treasure and the options available.

We cannot take credit for the decoration as Sal totally knocked this out of the park. Mick and Sal choose Farrow & Ball Bone Modern Emulsion and the same colour woodwork in Eggshell, and as you can see the end result is pretty awesome

A WORD FROM OUR CLIENT:

When we bought our beautiful old Victorian flat we knew we had taken on a project and that we were going to need help in bringing our vision into existence.

As much as we possibly could, we set out to work with local trades and suppliers and we asked Greg and Nicci to come see us to discuss all of our plans. We are new to the area with no network and so this was potluck but we think we struck gold. From kitchen and bathroom ideas to simple effective room divisions, we knew they shared our ethics and attention to detail and we wanted to work with them. When we decided to tackle the messiest job first, we asked The House of Holmes to insulate our top bedroom and make an uncomfortable space usable again as a multifunction room for guest sleepovers, home office space and somewhere to just sit and read or catch up on phone calls to friends.

We knew this was always going to be a dirty job but from day 1 The House of Holmes did everything they could to keep the mess to a minimum. From plastic on entrance and stairs carpets to daily hoovering at end of day, the dust was kept to a bearable level and all rubbish removed every day leaving the house free from obvious mess. Having building work done is always intrusive but everybody who worked on our top bedroom was respectful of both us and our home making it a far more bearable experience.

Between us we worked hard to plan everything that would take place but with even the best laid plans, there were inevitable changes along the way. At each stage Greg and Nicci explained our options, the upsides and the pitfalls, and any costs associated so we could quickly make decisions so as not to delay the works.

We are absolutely delighted with the end result and came in on the original budget they quoted with some additional extras we agreed along the way that further enhanced the build.

We are going to be working with Greg and Nicci and the House of Holmes team again soon to replace staircase and would not hesitate to recommend them.
